Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for it's research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Laboratory Assistant to join our Mildura Laboratory within Austin Pathology to fill a Permanent Part-Time positions.

The occupant of these positions must be willing and available to work at any time on any day of the week as rostered. These roster arrangements are not fixed and will change in response to changes in demands for services.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate key responsibilities that include:

  • Laboratory experience
  • Ability to enter data accurately
  • Able to respond to enquiries for information on laboratory procedures or results
  • A strong work ethic
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team situation
  • Basic understanding of simple laboratory tests
  • Ability to identify and prioritise patient requests according to laboratory procedure
  • Basic laboratory skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assist and support change
  • Good organisational skills
