Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Psychologist to join our Health Independence Program (HIP) in a part-time Grade 4 role. 

The Senior Psychologist position constitutes a key clinical and leadership role within the broader Health Independence Program. This position also contributes to the development and coordination of the HIP Psychology team, in conjunction with the operational management team. By demonstrating excellence in clinical care and leadership, the Grade 4 Psychologist will facilitate the delivery of a high quality, responsive service which is client-centred and focused on achieving best practice and optimising clients’ health outcomes.

Essential for Performance in the Position:


  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant post-graduate clinical experience.
  • PhD or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology is preferred (minimum of Masters degree is required)
  • Current registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and eligible for membership of the APS College of Clinical Psychology.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience providing client-centred care in a rehabilitation setting, including substantial experience with clients chronic health conditions and complex psychosocial issues. Experience working with clients with persistent pain would be well regarded. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, as well as within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a collaborative approach to client care and service development/delivery. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the recruitment, deployment, training and development and appraisal of clinical and health psychology staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing a high level of supervision to psychologists and completion of training required by AHPRA for the conduct of supervision (APHRA endorsed supervisor). 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide secondary consultation to carers, and to primary and other specialist service providers on behalf of the team. 
  • Experience in providing leadership in team and departmental research and evaluation activities.
