Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Emergency Medicine Registrar to join our Emergency Medicine Department in 2018.

Details of Department

Austin ED is one of Melbourne’s busiest. We see about 85,000 patients a year with the range of patients you would expect at a tertiary facility.

Details of position

Registrars will be expected to assess and manage patients according to their level of experience. Registrars are also expected to develop and implement an understanding of the needs and processes of ED resource management appropriate to their level of experience; including bed access, bypass avoidance strategies and interdepartmental liaison.

Registrars will also be expected to supervise and educate junior staff in patient assessment and management where appropriate. Registrars may at times be called to treat patients in the Mercy Hospital in emergency situations where the condition of the patient falls outside the clinical skills of Mercy.
