Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Pre-Analytical Support Supervisor to lead our Pre-Analytical Support department. 

About this role

  • Position: Pre-Analytical Support Supervisor
  • Hours per week: 40 hours per week

This is a key role that works closely with the Pre-Analytical Services Manager with varied responsibilities including the following: 

  • Responsible of the quality and timeliness of the Pre-Analytical processes
  • Rostering and co-ordinating staff across the Pre-Analytical area
  • Monitoring and maintaining a high performing team through KPI reporting
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance in related procedures
  • Provide direction and support to Pre-Analytical team members
  • Provide support to the operation across all laboratories and external clients
  • Extract, analyse, interpret and present data reports

To be successful for this role you must demonstrate: 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a pathology laboratory
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising and/or leading teams
  • Relevant degree qualification in science and/or leadership
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change with exceptional organisation skills
  • Experience with laboratory information systems and processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite and data base queries
  • Working knowledge and compliance to NATA and NPAAC standards
  • Demonstrated experience in complaint resolution
  • Experience in developing and maintaining process and policy documentation
