Join us as a Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist Grade 3 (Full time, permanent)

Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.

At Ballarat Austin Radiation Oncology Centre (BAROC), we offer the latest radiotherapy treatment techniques and use the most advanced technology to provide the best care to patients and their families in the Ballarat and Grampians region. BAROC is located with the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre (BRICC), a world-class cancer centre providing cancer care, treatment, and research.  Austin Health also provides world class radiotherapy services in metropolitan Melbourne at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, offering unique opportunities for professional collaboration.  

In addition to our current equipment, we will be replacing 2 linacs, a CT scanner and installing a new SXRT unit in the near future.

Full Time Opportunity

We are seeking a well-rounded physicist who is confident, creative and solutions focused to help deliver optimal patient care.  The person we seek will be directly involved in the clinical implementation of new treatment techniques and technology; they will be encouraged to take ownership of projects and will be supported in developing their own skills and those of the radiotherapy team.

The City of Ballarat is one of Victoria’s largest regional centres, an 1 ½ hours drive to Melbourne or an 1 ½  to Victoria’s famous surf at Bell’s Beach.  Ballarat was recently named as Victoria’s most liveable regional city and is home to some of the finest primary and secondary schools in Australia, as well as several high-quality tertiary educational institutions. In Ballarat there is there’s something for everyone - from beautiful natural attractions, such as Lake Wendouree, to renowned galleries, theatres, festivals, and restaurants.

BAROC is a purpose-built cancer treatment centre within the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre, located on the Ballarat Base Hospital site. The department is equipped with 2 Varian Trilogy linacs, Siemens AS Definition CT and a WoMed T-105 superficial x-ray unit (located at Stawell).   Treatment planning is completed using Monaco and ARIA is the OIS used within the centre. Mobius 3D&FX are being implemented to streamline our patient QA and MIM Maestro in the development phase in the department. Physics is very well equipped with a wide range of QA equipment and is well supported to attend training and conferences. Physicists have an active role in Quality Initiatives, Research, IT, implementation of New Technology and Strategic Planning for the department.
