Position Summary

Austin Health is offering a Graduate Nurse Program Combined Stream General and Mental Health in 2023.This program will allow you to work across both mental health and general nursing areas.

Graduates have 2 clinical rotations to integrate theory with practice: one rotation in the general hospital and one in a mental health services, with a focus on consumer centred, high- quality care.

Austin Health is a major provider of tertiary health and state-wide services, health professional education and research across three campuses in Melbourne’s northeast.  Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for enthusiastic Graduate Nurses, registered with PMCV’s Allocation and Placement Service, to join Austin Health in our Graduate Nurse Program Combined Stream in 2023. We offer a well-supported GNP including a structured orientation program, ongoing paid study days, educational opportunities and supernumerary days for each of the two six-month rotations. Our dedicated Graduate Nurse Coordinators, Graduate Educator and our Clinical Education Unit are available to assist graduate nurses in this transition year for the duration of the program. Graduates are also supported by ward preceptors and Nurse Unit Managers in all areas.

All appointments are made subject to the candidate providing registration with NMBA, a current satisfactory National Police Certificate conducted by Victoria Police, COVID vaccination certificates alongside other vaccination records and if required, a Working with Children Check.
