Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Elective Services Administration Officer to join our Orthopaedic Unit within the Surgical Clinical Service Unit. The Administration Officer will form part of the booking office team, which is comprised of elective services administration staff and surgical liaison nurses.  The focus of this office is to provide efficient and streamlined care for elective surgery patients.

The successful incumbent will work to provide:

  • a high level of secretarial support to the unit director; including diary management, meeting coordination, leave management
  • support to the Liaison Nurses to deliver on the requirements of the Elective Surgery Access Policy
  • efficient and effective administrative support to facilitate the elective surgery patient's journey and to provide care within clinically appropriate time frames
  • excellent customer service to all patients and hospital staff

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
