Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and self-motivated Senior Youth Mental Health Clinician, who is committed to excellent clinical outcomes, to join our Youth Early Psychosis Service (YEPS) at Austin’s Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS). The multidisciplinary team provides a specialist early psychosis service to young people age 16-25 in the Banyule and Nillumbik local government areas. The Senior Youth Mental Health Clinician provides recovery-orientated case management and intensive outreach support to young people and their families and is funded through a DH COVID-19 initiative to support access to extended hours of clinical care.

You will bring: a vibrant passion and aptitude for engaging young people and their families; a sophisticated clinical skill set and interest in developing yourself and others; a caring and positive, can-do attitude; a demonstrated capability in high quality assessment, formulation, risk management, care coordination/case management of a prescribed caseload, evidence-based practice and collaborative work with the young person's wider systems (including family work); excellent interpersonal and communication skills in all areas; experience and skills in offering psychoeducation across the spectrum of care; advanced interpersonal skills; current, relevant professional registrations, mental health qualifications and the relevant number of years’ experience for a senior mental health role; familiarity with relevant legislation and theoretical frameworks; and commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards. You must have a valid Victorian Driver’s Licence. Work is primarily at ourHeidelberg sites but you may be directed to work at other locations at times. This role will involve shifts ending by 7pm a few evenings a week (to be negotiated).
