Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our Adolescent Intensive Management Team. Occupational Therapists and Registered Psychiatric Nurses are encouraged to apply.

The AIM team at Austin CYMHS is an energetic multi-disciplinary team that provides an intensive outreach service to vulnerable and at-risk 12-18 year-old adolescents who live in complex family and systemic circumstances. Young people supported by AIM require enhanced treatment and a flexible approach. Typically the young people seen by AIM are not able to attend office-based assessment or treatment and have a number of other care systems involved. The systemic framework of the service means that team members work to empower young people and their support networks to think about their difficulites in a creative way and identify flexbile solutions to mental health problems.

The mental health clinician with their small caseload will undertake a direct clinical role as part of the multi-disciplinary team through providing assertive outreach mental health and risk assessment, formulation and intervention to young people with complex mental health difficulties and their family/carer networks. The clinician will also provide consultation to external agencies involved in the care of the young people registered with our service. We work closely with staff in a range of other sectors including; schools, child protection, family and community systems. In addition to outreach work, there is occasionally onsite and telehealth components as part of the role.

As part of the role you will receive high quality professional, clinical and operational supervision with erudite and experienced senior staff members.

All mental health services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-oriented practice and supported decision making.

Work with us! Your reward is to work in a collaborative environment which will provide you with opportunities for ongoing training and development. Your benefits will include salary packaging and an employee assistance program.

Austin Health also provides a number of additional staff benfits which can be found viahttps://www.austin.org.au/careers/benefits/

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory National Police Check conducted by Austin Health and a current unrestricted Working With Children Check.
