Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Inflammatory Bowel Disorder (IBD) Nurse to join our IBD Team. The IBD unit is part of the Department of Gastroenterology. In addition to coordinating care for patients with IBD at Austin Health, the IBD service receives new patient referrals across a large regional area; local and interstate referrals of complex patients with IBD and intestinal failure; liver transplant unit referrals of patients with ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis as well as those transitioning to adult care from the Royal Children’s hospital. The IBD unit maintains a large research focus that spans basic science, translational medicine and patient management strategies, including clinical trials. We seek to understand the pathophysiology of disease and apply this knowledge to develop enhanced diagnostics and treatments. In addition to the IBD Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC), the team consists of clinicians, clinician researchers and research nurses who work closely together
