Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic Epilepsy Surgery Fellow to join our Neurosurgery Unit in 2019

Details of Department

The Neurosurgery Department is located at the Austin Hospital and is committed to the provision of high quality patient care. The Department maintains an ongoing commitment to under graduate and post graduate teaching, and is also a consultative service for other Units within Austin Heath.

Details of position/position requirements

Provide comprehensive management of inpatients and outpatients

Manage the surgical waiting list equitably

Provide an on-call service as required

Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, Residents, Nursing, and other staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum

Participate in the auditing & review of clinical practices to improve clinical outcomes

Attend Division of Surgery audit and sugical Grand Rounds.

To be successful in this role you must:

Be a Registered Medical Practitioner in Australia

Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or its equivalent.

Demonstrate appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Neurosurgery

Demonstrate a commitment to teaching

Demonstrate surgical compentency
