Position Summary

Grade 3 Senior Clinical Psychologist, part time, fixed term  

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation. 

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join Austin Health's Bariatric Surgical Service. This specialist service is provided by a multidisciplinary team across both Austin and Repatriation campuses to provide high quality care and best outcomes for patients referred for bariatric management. Patients are offered options in both medical and surgical weight loss. 

The Clinical Psychologist will be part of an expert and dynamic multidisciplinary team and will work collaboratively to deliver psychological assessment and intervention to patients.  The role includes opportunities to support service development, evaluation and research. The position sits within the Psychology Department, Allied Health Division, which consists of experienced and supportive Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists providing services to a range of programs across Austin Health. We offer a supportive, friendly environment including supervision and professional development opportunities. This is a part-time (24 hours per week) fixed term position for 12 months.  

To be successful in this role key selection criteria include:  

  • A Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board of Australia, endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist and board approved supervisor status.  
  • A demonstrated capacity to conduct comprehensive psychological assessment and interventions with patients with complex and chronic medical conditions. 
  • High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement.  
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support best-practice clinical outcomes.
