Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Divisional Manager to join Austin Health's Mental Health Division.

About the Role

The Divisional Manager is a key leader within the Divisional senior team. Reporting to the Divisional Director, the Divisional Manager is responsible and accountable for the operational performance, financial, quality and risk management of their portfolio, including the creation of an operational environment that emulates and facilitates achievement of Austin Health's vision. The Adult Mental Health Services Divisional Manager and portfolio Medical Partner have a significant and critical collaborative relationship and together develop a strategically aligned annual operational plan for the portfolio, which includes the agreed activities, targets, resource allocation and monitoring processes.

With a detailed understanding of organisational strategy and contemporary operational models of practice, Divisional Managers collaboratively develop, review and secure a highly integrated, networked and performance oriented operational architecture that facilitates the delivery of efficient and effective patient centred clinical care. The Divisional Manager, Adult Mental Health Services, will manage and support a number of community-based teams, in addition to a number of acute and sub-acute units.

The Mental Health Division

Austin Health's Mental Health Division incorporates a number of specialities and services across community and bed-based services, with inpatient beds located on all three campuses. The Division provides catchment-based area mental health services, in addition to a number of regional and state-wide specialty services.

The Mental Health Division supports the rights of consumers to receive treatment in the least restrictive environment possible and delivers care which is consistent with the objectives of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014 and the National Standards for Mental Health Services. Service delivery is underpinned and supported by contemporary operational and clinical governance structures, and relevant policy and process.
