Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Manager of Spinal Community Services to join the Victorian Spinal Cord Service. 

The Victorian Spinal Cord Service (VSCS) is a specialised statewide service that provides lifelong care to people who sustain a traumatic spinal cord injury in Victoria, Tasmania and southern New South Wales.  Inpatient services are provided at the Austin and Royal Talbot campuses of Austin Health.  The VSCS also provides community and outpatient programs. 

The Spinal Community Integration Service (SCIS) will be based at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre and sit within the VSCS to provide community-based intervention to spinal cord injured clients from both Austin and Alfred Health.  Community based intervention may include working with the client in their own home, with a community service provider, in their local community, at their workplace or in a recreation facility. 

The local consultant will refer clients eligible for participation. A small proportion of the caseload will be referrals from the Caulfield Unit, Alfred Health.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include and not limited to:

  • Provide strategic and operational management and professional leadership
  • Contribute significantly to shaping the vision and goals of the programs and the VSCS
  • Develop work practices and procedures and complete necessary administrative tasks involved with community services operations and in line with the relevant  objectives
  • Coordinate orientation and training necessary for new staff
  • Ensure effective communication across Austin and Alfred sites
  • Ensure adherence  to clinical guidelines, procedures and policies by all teams
  • Manage and co-ordinate staff including authorising and overseeing recruitment and coordinating Performance Planning and Review
  • Monitor data and activity levels to appropriately manage staff and non-staffing resources
  • Manage financial delegation in accordance with program funding guidelines
  • Manage all services within allocated financial resources
