Senior Mental Health Clinician MSTS (Mobile Support and Treatment Service)

About the Mental Health Division

The Mental Health Division provides mental health assessment and interventions for people experiencing mental illness, and their family and carers. Working from a recovery-orientated model, the Mental Health Division provides an array of hospital-based, community and specialist services for infants, children, young people, adults and aged people throughout Victoria. All mental health services work within a clinical framework that promotes recovery-orientated practice and supported decision-making.

About the role

As a Senior Mental Health Clinician, you will work collaboratively with the MSTS Consultant Psychiatrist and clinical team to provide the highest level of clinical care to the consumers

A regular day will see you:

  • Triage and manage referrals according to clinical urgency and required response times
  • Deliver high quality care for a small clinical caseload, as well as consultation and liaison with organisations.
  • Conducting face-to-face assessments of clients requiring urgent assessment
  • Together with the Consultant Psychiatrist monitoring progress of team cases and that treatment interventions are appropriate and implemented to high standards
  • Providing knowledge and skills, based on professional background, as part of a multidisciplinary team, consult with other mental health staff on specialist and community psychiatry matters
  • Be professionally accountable and assist in the clinical leadership of the wider MSTS team.

About you

You will be someone who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both autonomously and as a part of the team.

You’ll bring with you:

  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in consumer care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work, and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
  • A thorough knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
  • Collaborative approach to work across a multi-disciplinary team
  • Nurses must have a Post-Graduate Qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent and at least 5 years clinical experience in adult psychiatry/mental health
  • For Allied Health applicants, a minimum of 5 years clinical experience in Mental Health or related fields, and particular experience and skills in the practice of community-oriented service delivery
