Position Summary

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Registered Nurse to join the Community Recovery Program (CRP). CRP is a 22-bed mental health community residential service for consumers age 18-64 years. CRP is a collaboration between Austin Health, Mind Australia and Forensicare Services. Eligible consumers are supported to reach their recovery goals and maintain optimal mental health wellbeing through a carefully designed tenancy and recovery-based group program. 

The position offered is a Registered Nurse Grade 2 (RPN2). Enrolled Nurses (medication endorsed) with suitable mental health experience will also be considered.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate:

A thorough understanding of mental health nursing, recovery principles and the Mental Health Act 2014

Ability to work as a keyworker/case manager; provide direct support to consumers by identifying their psychosocial needs

Promote education and skills training

Support allocated consumers to reach their recovery goals within set timeframes and engage in discharge planning

Ability to engage consumers in group activities that enhance consumer wellbeing and recovery

Work within a multidisciplinary team

Ability to work with stakeholders, families, carers and the wider mental Health Division

The RPN2/PEN Level 2 will work under the support and direction of the RPN3 to ensure day to day tasks are completed in a timely and effective manner. 

Essential to the role is the availability to work afternoon shifts on a permanent basis. It is desirable that the applicant be flexible to work the occasional day shift to cover any roster shortfalls.
