An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, creative and hands-on Communications Adviser to join our Corporate Communications team. We are accountable for designing and implementing internal and external communications strategies that support Austin Health’s strategic objectives, drive positive employee engagement, and protect and enhance the organisation’s brand and reputation. 

The function provides strategic and tactical communications advice and support to the executive team, senior leaders and department heads. We manage a range of communications activities including content development, publications, PR, media relations, issues management, brand and reputation management, event management, channel management (website, intranet and social media) and change and infrastructure projects.

About the role

You'll manage the Austin Health and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre social media platforms, and create engaging multimedia content, schedule posts through Sprout Social, oversee reporting and monitor engagement, responses and direct messages. 

You'll have the opportunity to work with the Media & Communications Manager on proactive media opportunities and prepare media monitoring reports. 

You'll also work across the function undertaking various activities as required, including internal communications, events, content development, video production and maintaining our website and intranet sites.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to write high quality and engaging content for print and online channels 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working with social media platforms (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram)
  • A good news sense and an interest in media and issues management 
  • Experience developing and implementing integrated internal and external communications plans
  • Good project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A degree in communications (or related discipline) with a minimum of 3-4 years in a similar role.
  • Experience with the Adobe creative suite, video production and editing, and photography would be highly regarded.
