Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.


Cancer therapeutics is increasingly delivered within the ambulatory setting. An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Registered Nurse to join our Day Oncology Unit.  Say goodbye to shift work and weekend work.


Details of Department

Day Oncology is a fast paced 21 chair unit operating Monday-Friday, 8.00am-5.00pm.  Austin Health is a specialist service for many tumour streams.  Along with an active cancer clinical trials program treatment modalities provided within the unit are at the cutting edge of cancer treatments.  


Details of position/position requirements

A high functioning team of nurses deliver cancer therapeutics to patients presenting to the day oncology unit.  You will be actively engaged to participate in quality improvement activities and nursing research to ensure that patients remain well supported throughout the treatment journey.  A number of senior nursing positions exist in the unit to provide a supportive environment and opportunity for career advancement. 


To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

At least 5 years’ experience as a Cancer Nurse

Chemotherapy Certification

Clinically proficient in Central Venous Access Device management including Portacaths, PICC lines, Hickman lines

Selection Criteria Essential: Chemotherapy Certification
Essential: Competent in the management of Central Venous Access Devices including Portacaths, PICC lines, Hickman
Essential: At least 5 years experience in a cancer setting
Desirable: Post graduate qualification in cancer nursing or other relevant field
