Position Summary

Senior Clinical or Health Psychologist Grade 3, part time, fixed term 

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity exists for a senior psychologist to provide a psycho-oncology role within the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Centre (ONJ Centre) at Austin Health. The ONJ Centre is a state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer diagnostic and treatment unit that forms part of Austin Health.  Cancer clinical services are provided in a range of inpatient and ambulatory settings.  Ambulatory services include Radiation Oncology, Day Oncology, Apheresis, and multidisciplinary cancer clinics.  The integrated model of multidisciplinary care within Cancer Services relies on a dynamic, appropriately qualified and skilled team to support patients undergoing care in both the inpatient and ambulatory settings, with a key focus on integrated wellness, allied health and supportive care. The Wellness Centre provides psycho-social and complementary therapies to cancer patients, survivors and their families and carers.

This position involves direct comprehensive clinical psychology service to cancer patients in consultation with medical and supportive care staff, inclusive of psychological assessment, therapeutic intervention and psychoeducation. Secondary consultation to the treating team and support for the range of programs in the Wellness Centre is part of the role.  The appointment is for 0.7EFT and will be for a period of 12 months. 

We are looking for a senior clinician with at least 5 years experience in relevant clinical activities and substantial psycho-oncology experience, the ability to develop and evaluate programs and new initiatives in a multidisciplinary context and to work with a multidisciplinary team. A minimum masters degree in Clinical or Health Psychology, registration with AHPRA including endorsement in Clinical or Health Psychology, and AHPRA registration as a supervisor are essential.
