Position Summary

It is an exciting time to participate in  the growth and restructure of  ICYMHS and with wider Mental Health Division at Austin Health.

  • The Adolescent Inpatient Unit is part of Austin Health’s ICYMHS. It is based in the Marian Drummond Building in Heidelberg. 
  • The Unit has 11 beds for the assessment and treatment for adolescents aged 13-17 years inclusive within Austin Health's metropolitan and region catchment areas.
  • The Adolescent Unit is an integral part of the Austin ICYMHS team and we are in an exciting phase of transformation responding to the Royal Commission recommendations.

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Nurse Unit Manager to join this team.

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is recognised as the operational leader of the multidisciplinary team, both the clinical nursing and allied health staff, within the Adolescent Inpatient Unit. Working alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist on the team the NUM will also provide strong and vibrant leadership in the clinical work within model of care that reflects both contemporary and reflective practice.

To be successful in this role you will bring with you: 

  • A relevant mental health nursing qualifications and a role in nursing leadership
  • Passionate in working with young people and their recovery and wellbeing
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum years of clinical experience and management roles  according to the Enterprise Agreement, specific to experience within a tertiary mental health setting.
