About the Austin Child Care Centre 

The Austin Child Care Centre is located in a renovated brick gatekeeper’s lodge built in 1871, on the grounds of Austin Hospital. We are a non-profit organisation providing child care services to support our wonderful healthcare workers, and are registered for 70 places, caring for preschool aged children from 4 months to school entry. We have nature-based play spaces designed to support healthy growth and development, and our children are involved in many of the hospitals’ events, including commemorative services and cultural days, as well as creating artwork displayed around the hospital. Austin Health is a child safe environment.

The Centre offers a friendly and supportive, where we genuinely enjoy working together. Our team has low turnover and high longevity of tenure, and we all come from different backgrounds and nationalities. We enjoy sharing our cultures with each other, the children and their families, and we fully support a diverse, inclusive environment.

About the role

As an Early Childhood Educator, you will work with other room educators who develop a fun, educational and engaging program for our children. You’ll also support the Centre in evaluating the quality of the program to ensure it is aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the National Quality Framework (NQF). 

A regular day will see you: 

  • Actively support every child to participate in the program and ensure that it promotes children’s agency, choices and influence 
  • Develop and maintain respectful, supportive, collaborative and responsive relationships with children and their families
  • Deliver effective and valuable documentation of children’s learning in accordance with the Centre philosophy and the Learning Outcomes (EYLF and VEYLDF)
  • Ensure all practices are in accordance with the NQS and reflect the philosophy, policies and procedures of the service

About you

You will be someone who is highly motivated, energetic and loves to care for and nurture young children. You’ll enjoy collaborating with your team and providing a welcoming, safe environment. 

Ideally, you’ll bring with you: 

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education. 
  • The ability to supervise and relate well to children
  • Demonstrated awareness of social, economic and cultural diversity and its impact on children and their families.  
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
