Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for  a Clinical Psychologist Grade 2 to join the Mental Health Division at Austin Health. This is a 12 month fixed position backfilling a Maternity Leave placemenet.

Our team consists of Psychiatrists, Psychitric Registrars  and  Interns, Clinic Nurse Consulatnat,  Occupational  Therapists , Social Workers , Lived Experienced workers and a large Nursing Team.

 

The position will be based in the Acute Psychiatric Unit  (APU) which will provide an unique opportunity to work with people with a broad range of mental illness, across all stages of illness.

 

The APU is part of the North East Mental Health Service and is located on the Austin Hospital campus. The APU is a 24 bed inpatient unit providing the following services: 19 acute beds for the North East Area Mental Health Service (NEAMHS) covering the municipalities of Banyule and Nillumbik .

 

This role includes direct patient assessment, treatment and teamwork. Opportunities exist for development of specialised programs for ward staff, and as appropriate, involvement in research and training associated with the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology.

 

Minimum qualifications: Masters of Clinical Psychology or equivalent. Experience with acute and chronic mental illness, and the capacity to draw upon a range of therapeutic interventions.
