About the ward

Ward 5 East is a dynamic 32-bed unit specialising in cardiac and thoracic surgery and cardiology medicine. It contains a 12 bed High Dependency Unit caring for cardiac medical and surgical patients and thoracic surgery patients and has telemetry monitoring facilities for eighteen beds

The unit is committed to patient-centred, evidence-based care and is dedicated to continuing professional development for all staff.

About the role

As an important member of the 5East clinical nursing team, you will provide complex and multi-disciplinary care to a broad range of cardiac and thoracic patients.

A regular day will see you:

• Manage acute patient care in a high acuity, high patient flow area, supporting cardiology procedural patients, post operative surgical patients, acute ED admissions and post cardiac surgery ICU discharges
• Support the ward in a high patient access and flow environment
• Provide peri-operative and patient education to enable patients to make informed decisions whilst in hospital and post discharge

About you

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

• Passionate about delivering outstanding patient centred care
• A commitment to continuing professional development to advance nursing practice
• Post graduate qualification in critical care/cardiac nursing
• Critical care experience in an acute hospital setting CCU/ICU /anaesthetic-PARU
• Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Commitment to rotating roster 8 & 10hr shifts
