Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.
Details of the Position:- Title: Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Fellow
Appointment: Fixed-Term Full Time
Period: 12 Months - February 2025 to February 2026
Hours per week: 38 hours

The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery sits within the SAPM Division, part of the Operations Directorate, which operates across both the Austin Hospital and Repatriation Hospital sites.
The Director of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery is Dr Derek Neoh.
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit provides high level Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery services to patients across Austin Health. The unit provides specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery services and an after-hours on call service. The unit maintains an ongoing commitment to research, teaching and training.
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit is supported by a Divisional Manager, Quality Coordinator, Finance, HR and Business Support as part of the SAPM Division.
The Unit is committed to the provision of high quality patient care and maintains an ongoing commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Position responsibilities and requirements
- Participate in clinical and/or basic research.
- Participate in both Under Graduate and Post Graduate teaching.
- Participate in the auditing and review of clinical practices to improve clinical outcomes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member with peer medical, resident, nursing and other staff to provide efficient, safe and quality care across the continuum.
- Participate in Unit ward rounds and weekly grand round.
- Participate in Unit meetings and activities.
- Provide surgical and clinical management of inpatients and outpatients.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Demonstrate a commitment to high quality patient care.
- Have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery
- Have current and appropriate registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) - (note eligible applicants will be assisted through this process).
