Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for two enthusiastic Nuclear Medicine Registrars to join our Department of Molecular Imaging and Therapy (previously known as Department of Nuclear Medicine and Centre for PET) in 2017.

Details of Department

The Department is the largest of its kind in Australia and is situated on the two larger campuses of Austin Health. Austin Hospital is the acute site and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital predominantly provides the outpatient service. All trainees will rotate between general (including cardiac) nuclear medicine, PET and radionuclide therapy. The Department has 5 gamma cameras, three with SPECT/CT capability, and three PET scanners. There is also a cyclotron with extensive chemistry and physics support. The PET service is situated at Austin Hospital.

Details of position

To work as an integral member of the Department in providing a best practice Nuclear Medicine and PET service with due regard to administered dose of radiation. A close association with referrers to the Department will be a priority, as will participation in the training program for medical and other staff.

To be successful in this role you must:

Competency in history taking from patients to assist with scan interpretation

Assisting with performance of myocardial perfusion stress testing

Obtaining informed consent

Proficiency in IV cannulation

Administration of oral or IV radiopharmaceuticals as required
