Position Summary

Grade 2 and Grade 3 Occupational Therapists (Casual) 

  • Casual, weekends and public holidays
  • Paid at 175% the standard wage rate (with salary packaging available), i.e.
    • $76.80 - $88.28 per hour (depending on grade 2 classification level)
    • $88.63 - $101.27 per hour (depending on grade 3 classification level)
  • Contribute to best practice care within acute care weekend services

About Occupational Therapy: 

The Austin Health OT department is a vibrant and fast paced environment. The department forms part of the Division of Allied Health, which comprises the following services: 

  • Allied Health therapies 
  • Tracheostomy Review and Management Service 
  • Spiritual Care 
  • Language Services   
  • Ngarra Jarra (Aboriginal Health) Program 
  • Disability Liaison Officer Program
  • Ability@Austin

About the Role:

The casual grade 2 or grade 3 will provide evidence-based clinical care by the provision of expert triage, assessment and intervention including complex discharge planning. Clinicians are required to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams and provide allied health leadership to promote excellent patient care in at least one of the following weekend services:

Acute Stroke Service - The aim of the acute stroke Saturday/Sunday service is to facilitate discharges to the community and to meet the acute stroke clinical guidelines. This role also provides some neurological cover to neurosurgical patients as required to support timely assessment and discharge.

Acute Discharge Service - The aim of the OT acute discharge Saturday service is to provide timely assessment and intervention for patients to facilitate safe discharge home and shortened length of stay.

The Surgery Centre (TSC) - The aim of the OT TSC Saturday service is to provide timely assessment and intervention for patients to facilitate safe discharge home, understanding the orthopaedic pathways and functional impacts from surgery.
