About the Austin Operating suite;

Austin Operating Suite is a busy, highly complex unit with 11 ORs, 2 procedure rooms and 2 endoscopy rooms. We operate 24/7 365 days a year. We do many types of surgery including liver & renal transplants, General & Bariatric, ENT, head and neck, Urology, Vascular, Cardio Thoracic, Plastic reconstructive, Neuro and Orthopaedics.

The Austin Operating Suite is committed to promoting the highest levels of care for our patients. In realising this goal, the department will lead and excel in research, teaching and the use of person centered evidence-based practice

About the role

The Peiroperative Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the suite. Ensuring staff are trained and competant to deliver high quality care in a fast paced ever changing environment. The ability to manage staff  and resources is cruicial as is an understanding of the complexities of each surgical specialty.

A regular day will see you

  • Ensuring all relevant standards are met and staff are trainined in OR process
  • Managing staffing, recruitment, training and skill enhancement
  • Manging budget requirments
  • Ensuring a high standard of care dleivery
  • Ensuring adherance to infection control principals.

About you

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • Extensive experience in perioperative nursing
  • Post Grad qualification in periop nursing
  • Good understanding Infection Control and ACORN standards
  • Experience leading a team
  • Great communications skills and a committment to excellence
