Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Contact Tracing Team Leader to join our newly created North East Public Health Unit.

Reporting to the site Operations Lead, North East Public Health Unit (NEPHU), the purpose of the Contact Tracing and Outbreak Management (CTOM) Team Leader is to ensure an effective and efficient response to the COVID-19 pandemic by providing day to day coordination, direction and oversight of the CTOM Contact Tracing Officers and associated public health activities.

The North East Public Health Unit (NEPHU) is a major component of a once in a generation reform of public health delivery in Victoria.  This new system consists of three Melbourne metropolitan Public Health Units (North East [NEPHU], Western [WPHU], and South East [SEPHU]) who are linked with the existing six Regional Public Health Units, DHHS Intelligence, Case, Contact and Outbreak Management (ICCOM) and COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV).  Together these units form a distributed network, centrally coordinated by ICCOM.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate/Key responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical background in nursing or allied health 
  • Previous contact tracing and/or outbreak management experience, ideally during the COVID-19 pandemic 
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a dynamic team which works effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated ability in development and oversight of staff rosters
  • Ability to implement, lead and support change
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgement in complex and novel situations
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements; apply evidence-based change management principles
  • Ability to work a rotating roster, 7 days a week, morning and afternoon shifts
