Position Summary

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and highly experienced Orthotist / Prosthetist to join our Orthotics and Prosthetics department.  The role is for Grade 2 or 3 Orthotist / Prosthetists to be added to our Casual pool.

  

Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

 

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Department has a strong focus on positive patient outcomes, professional development and effective practices, to deliver high quality and timely service, both clinically and technically, to the inpatients and outpatients across Austin Health's three campuses and the community.  Wea re actively involved in quality and education inititiatives, and work with other Allied Health professionals to deliver a high standard of treatment across a large range of pathologies.

  • Masters of Clinical Prosthetic and Orthotics (or Bachelor equivalent).  
  • Eligible for AOPA membership with certification as an Orthotist / Prosthetist via CPD program fulfilment.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience 
  • Demonstrated high levels of specialist knowledge and clinical skills in an area of clinical practice relevant to Austin Health 
  • Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice and ability to translate this in to practice 
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of other staff  
  • Demonstrated expertise in teaching, training and education (Grade 3) 
  • High level interpersonal skills that promote team development and engagement, and a proven ability to relate to people at all levels within an organization 
  • Demonstrated research or quality improvement project work, including knowledge and skills in benchmarking and data analysis 
  • High level written and verbal skills  
  • Demonstrated history of and commitment to ongoing professional development and specialisation
